He wasn’t supposed to go through old family albums.

But when he did, he found a picture of his grandfather—young, laughing, arm around a girl who wasn’t his grandmother.

A note was scribbled in the corner.

“She was my greatest what-if.”

He swallowed hard, staring at the words.

That night, he held his phone, debating.

Maybe it was time to stop running from his own.
